On February 13 (Fri.), 2015, the opening ceremony of the Research Center for Innovation by Photonics Evolution was held in Shizuoka University, a leading research institute of the Optical Technology Development COI-S Base. At the new research center, the member research institutes of the Optical Technology Development COI-S Base (Shizuoka University, Hamamatsu University School of Medicine, the Graduate School for the Creation of New Photonics Industries, and Hamamatsu Photonics) engage in research and development, with the aim of creating a society that enables full control of light, beyond space and time. They will also perform a supplementary role to the efforts by the Center of KANSEI Innovation to develop BEI (Brain Emotion Interface) technology, by developing KANSEI sensing devices and remote reproduction technology through optical technology. Rapid progress of optical technology is expected.
